Everyone loves a bit of ooey gooey melty cheese! It’s even better when turned into bite sized balls, stuffed with bits of FunGuy mushrooms, and then fried so they have a crispy outer shell. The best though, is when there’s a spicy, creamy sauce to dip them in.
Just the thought is sure to make your mouth water!
DIRECTIONS:
- Brush off any debris from the FunGuy mushrooms with a damp cloth. Dice the mushrooms and place them in a bowl. Add in the goat cheese and mix together with a spoon and set aside.
- Pour the flour into a bowl. Beat the egg and the milk together in another bowl. In yet another bowl, stir together the bread crumbs, salt, pepper, oregano and thyme.
- In a deep pan, over medium heat, pour in the vegetable oil to about 2 inches in depth. Allow it to get hot enough that a ½ inch cube of bread starts cooking as soon as it hits the oil.
- While the oil gets hot, prepare the cheese balls.
- Using two teaspoons, scoop up the cheese and mushroom mixture and shape it into a ball by transferring it back and for the between the spoons. Drop the cheese first into the flour and roll it around to coat the outside. Next, transfer the ball to the egg and milk mixture, then to the bread crumb mixture and coat the outside with the bread crumbs. Transfer the cheese ball to a plate and repeat with the rest of the cheese to make 20 balls in total.
- Once the oil is hot add the cheese balls to the hot oil carefully in batches of 4-5. Allow each batch to cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Transfer the finished cheese balls to a plate lined with paper towels to drain off the excess oil.
- Allow to cool at least 5 minutes before serving!
- While waiting for the FunGuy cheese balls to cool, mix up the dip!
- Whisk the mayonnaise, sour cream, hot sauce, lemon juice, onion powder, garlic powder, and parsley in a bowl. Season the dip with salt and pepper as desired.
- Serve immediately.
Have a Fun meal!
